this is... what I want to be

Michael Miller Fabrics for childhood dreams:

BugandPop selected this week's "this is" topic. And this is what I want to be when I grow up... As a kid, I wanted to be heaps of things - an astronaut, the president, an architect, a teacher, a race car driver, a pilot and a horse jockey. I also wanted to run away and join the circus. Eventually I went to college to learn to build big bridges and plan cities. Four years later, I found myself working on movies and video games. And now, almost a decade later, I find myself an umemployed stay-a-home housewife (not, of the desparate sort).

All the while, I didn't want those dreams to pass, so I made a go at making them happen. If not professionally, as least for fun.

For a while it was trapeze lessons. [yes, that's me on the trapeze] Before that race car school...Now though, when I grow up I know just what I want to be. Eccentric with a capital E.

Main Entry: ec·cen·tric
Pronunciation: \ik-ˈsen-trik, ek-\
Function: adjective
1 a: deviating from an established or usual pattern or style b: deviating from conventional or accepted usage or conduct especially in odd or whimsical ways

Just a little bit off kilt. Batty, if you will. I can't wait for the day that I can do something ridiculous on the bus and everyone writes me off as an eccentric old lady.

  1. I do think it would be fun to be that eccentric old lady, trapezing down the bus.
