I'm still playing with the hook. I've managed 33 inches so far. How long do you like your scarves?

pattern: purl's granny stripe blanket
yarn: rowan fine milk cotton
hook: 3mm

  1. Ah, scarf length… I like a variety of lengths. Sometimes I decide according to the width, or if I'm grafting the ends together for a cowl-y loopy thing. And other times, it's simply a matter a how much yarn I've got. Thickness also counts. If a scarf is too thick, then it shouldn't be too long since you'll trip over the ends or choke from too many 'round the neck's… (I may have an overly long, very chunky scarf that I'm a foot too short to wear.)

Yours will be lovely, regardless of the length. :-)

  2. I like a long scarf - my favourite is just over 7 foot. You can wrap, double and loop or tie. I think the minimum length is long enough to double and loop (double then being able to put the end through the loop and them not falling out). Keep going it looks great.

  3. I like mine at least as long as I am tall. That way I know I can wear it pretty much like I want to. That's my rule of thumb.

  4. Love your scarf ~ the white stripes are great! I mostly wear shawls and I like them long ~ usually enough to wrap around my neck a couple of times. Like to knot them sometimes too.
