I thought that I should update you on my bike. In December, I asked for help about how to bling it out and make it less utilitarian. You were chock full of great ideas, but it was clear my heart just wasn't into the mountain bike that we'd bought. We took it camping with us this weekend and both conceded that we needed to keep our eye out for something else...
Little did we know that the small bike shop in Swansea held a bike of my dreams. Yes, kids. I've got myself an Electra. She's a 24" 7 speed cruiser in seafoam. As a smaller person, finding a bike that both fits and looks good can be struggle. There's no doubt that she's perfect.
The kind owner at Skate and Ride in Swansea helped out by using a hacksaw to trim the seat post. And then, he kindly threw in a matching basket for free. It really doesn't get must better than this.
For the safety conscience, I ride with a Nutcase Argyle helmet which is tops for comfort and style. Finding a new bike was completely unexpected, hence I didn't have it for the new bike photo shoot. I love my brain and love my helmet.
I'd be shouting through the rooftops about my bike, if I hadn't lost my voice. How about you? What do you roll?
Congrats on the new bike. I love my Electra Gypsy 3-speed. I prefer the Yakkay helmets though. My Yakkay looks like a sun hat and people are always surprised that it is really a bike helmet.
ReplyDeleteAny bike that gets you riding is good by me. Swansea is beautiful I'm on the opposite side of the lake and its just a great place to ride.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed your trip to "The Lake". Next time your up I'll give you a heads up for the quilting trail... We have a great range of shops in the area.
Great bike and helmet!
ReplyDeleteI've got a Townie ~ tho for the moment I can't remember who makes it. Great sturdy bike that I haven't ridden in a age ~ the weather is finally getting nice here ~ I'll have to get it out and take a spin.
I've had a mountain bike for a long time that I complain about having to hunch over on neighborhood rides. I got a Northridge "comfort bike" pretty well priced at Costco and added the Nantucket basket. I'm really liking it for neighborhood and paved trails around the neighborhood. Ironically, we went on some dirt trails in the mountains this weekend and now I want a new mountain bike too!
ReplyDeleteI have a red Norco Monterey that I love because it's my "engagement ring". I just got a new Nutcase Rainbow Stripe helmet this weekend and I love that too! Your cruiser bike looks lovely and I'm sure it'll put a smile on your face every time you go for a ride!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool - we almost have matching bikes and helmets!
ReplyDeleteI now have the Townie and a Nutcase Pixie Stix helmet.
Hope you are feeling better soon. I've got some sort of cruiser but being a shortie like you I do find it quite big. I love riding it though but haven't done much lately because Lucy is a bit too slow on hers to make it worthwhile for me I end up having to punch mine
