Is this a bit like change your clock; change your smoke alarm battery?
I'm afraid that until not that long ago, I had no idea that you were supposed to change the sewing machine needle regularly. Blunt? What do you mean ... blunt? Ooops! Now, I seem to have swung the other way and am throwing them out with wild abandon!!
Yes yes! I'm the worst with my blade - I find myself wondering why in the hell I can't just cut the fabric easily and them I'll realize, "oh right - I need a new blade!"
I'm bad with the blade, but I change my needle every time I go to quilt a quilt. Then I'm lazy and leave it for the piecing of the next quilt. If it is a really big quilt I might change the needle more than once while quilting it. Saves the skipped stitches!
I was struggling with the rotary cutter and getting so frustrated! Then I thought about putting in a new blade and VIOLA! So much easier to cut fabric now.
I have been good about changing my needles when I go to quilt a new quilt. I also keep the same needle for piecing the next quilt though.
What DO you do with all those microtex needles? I think I have some, but haven't found a reason to use them for anything yet!

No, but I really should! Will put it on the to-do-list pronto, thanks for the friendly reminder
ReplyDeleteHmmm no I'm afraid not. I have a sneaking suspicion that I may even still have a stretch needle in the machine!
ReplyDeleteOh yes I have, thank you!!
