circle of eek.

This circle of geese is for Jo for The Beehive. This circle of geese is probably the hardest thing I've ever sewn. I invented new swear words trying to make this block. Two of the quarters were sewn backwards. Paper piecing was not my friend. I love the bees because it's fun to work with everyone else's fabric combinations and try new things. I really like that. That said if anyone asks me for a circle of geese again, I must just die.

Jo provided an easy alternative. I should have taken it. She's a legend that way. If you are feeling brave, I used the paper piecing tutorial at Sometimes Crafter for the circle of geese.

  1. Eek is right! I made that block once. You're not going to share your new swear words? I was thinking of paper piecing today...

  2. dang. That one's on my list of things I'd like to try. Maybe I should move it to the "things I think I MUST try but maybe won't enjoy so much" list...

  5. It looks great! My attempt was a disaster, so I made Jo a second set of plain old geese in apology. Good on you for kicking the circle's butt!

  12. It looks fabulous, regardless. I still want to try one. Especially since straight lines scare me less than circles.

  13. I LOVE paper piecing. I'm addicted. I often use paper piecing to do regular-pieced quilt blocks - that's how much I love how accurate it is.

That being said, you do have to be on the ball otherwise there have been quite a few times when I've finished a chunk of a block only to realise it's backwards/wrong way facing out... sigh!

  14. Oh my, that does look complicated. I can almost hear the swearing from here :) Still, totally worth the effort for the end result, looks fantastic!
