Forty-two. Six and a half dozen unwoven ends. I am ignoring those and am sure you can see past it. Seven or eight skeins used, twice that remaining. Decision time. Do I start varying the size of the blocks ala Babette? Do I introduce solid blocks for contrast? Do I throw in another blocks style like a flower?
Forty two.
Now what?
oh! photos are so helpful aren't there? after staring at the top one, I realized the diamond pattern in the gaps is really cool, so I think I'm going to avoid mixing blocks sizes to retain in! I love how photos make you look at things differently!
ReplyDeleteConsidering 42 is the secret to the universe it seems like a fitting time to decide what next to do ... solid or flower blocks sound interesting. And I can't believe how close your colours are to something I'm making for my niece.
ReplyDeletejust lovely the way it is, I wish i could help you with what comes next, but i am loving what has happened so far. just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI too like it just the way it is with the funky diamond pattern. Can't wait to see it finito!
ReplyDeleteI would keep going like this, it looks great, LOVE the colours :)
ReplyDeleteLove it, love it, love it
ReplyDeleteColours, design, effect
I love it! And you can save the hassle of weaving in those ends if you use them to attach the blocks to each other :)
ReplyDeleteI've made some patchwork baby blankets with co-coworkers and we ask each person to leave the ends long so they can be used to put the whole thing together.
wow, did you go from 2 to 42 in the space of 2 days?! thats pretty amazing. maybe its not actually, but for me, the very basic beginner crocheter who is on her third ever square that is definitely amazing!
ReplyDeletei also think continue on the same, its looking just lovely the way it is
I think it looks amazing the way that it is - however, it would be cool to do blocks that are 4 times the size of the smaller ones and intersperse them throughout the blanket to give it some unevenness. Just a thought. But it is amazing as is.
ReplyDeleteJust keep going. They look great!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the hodge-podge of colours with the uniformity of the block style that you've got going on right now. Though the odd random flowery square could be cute too. But I think you've got a good thing going.
ReplyDeleteI love them! the colors are too amazing. the fiber looks really yummy too. I sooo need to work on my Babette again!
ReplyDeletekeep going!
ReplyDeletei love this pattern and my squares now need sewing/crocheting together

I like it how it is. Maybe you could make some smaller blocks to do a border when you are nearly finished.
ReplyDeleteoh i love these colours. Some flowers would be lovely and also love the idea of smaller blocks to do the border.
ReplyDeleteLove Marlene
you have a great style...I am sure it will be amazing!

ReplyDeleteAfter reading your posts on these little gem blocks, I have gone out and bought the book, started my first granny square, and gone to heaven.
