And because every post needs a picture, here's a in-progress shot for the Spicing Up the Kitchen Swap. It's destined to be a potholder one day. The block design and inspiration comes from Suzuko Koseki in the February issue of the Japanese quilt magazine Patchwork Tsushin. As soon as I saw her interpretations of the block, I decided to give it a try using Lecien stripes and Kumiko Fujita's calendar print. It's my first go at the block style and I need to fine tune it, but I think I'm on to something. Certainly potholder worthy once it's properly pressed!

LOVE that block!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really interesting read. My hubby was just today telling me about cotton going up in price.
ReplyDeleteThat is one cool block!
Love the block, love the combo
ReplyDeletePerfect for a kitchen. The calendar reminds me of the old fabric calendars my grandmother always had up in her kitchen!!!
ReplyDeletewow, love the block, and really love the calendar print (it's that whole words on fabric thing I can't get over) :)
ReplyDeletebrilliant! i can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding block! I'm off to read that post now...maybe it will quell my conspiracy theories on all the "cotton prices are going up" reports.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that was excellent. Thanks for posting the link. Gotta love the President of Moda, who doesn't say much except for this gem: "We all need to accept the things we have no control over and take a positive approach with our sales ladies and customers." - which I interpret as: don't ask questions, just sell the fabric ladies!
