nothing new.

Good Yarn for Happy Knitting Time

It's not that I haven't been doing anything. It's that I haven't been doing anything new. I wonder if showing progress on ancient projects is worth posting. It's been cold and I've buried myself with my crochet, and that's all I have to show. I've been busy with the Mars shows. It's all about Veronica, Sam Tyler and 2.5mm crochet hook.

I started this well over a year ago I think. I usually pick up more skeins for it in Japan, but decided not to on the last trip. Subconsciously, I decided to stop? When I picked up the hook again last weekend, I was hoping for 5x5 blocks. It seems I've run out of red. With that, I guess it's nearly done.

The bright colours are CottonNottoc from Japan aka Good Yarn for Happy Knitting Time. The inner red squares are based on Jan Eaton's Granny with a Twist. The freeform logcabin quilting influenced stripes were just a random technique that I made up inspired by my time at the sewing machine. Ravelry says I added this project in April 2010, I'd guess it was started months before then. A few more squares to finish and attach, some ends to weave, and it's a lightweight lappie.

The freeform log cabin process

At the other end of the spectrum (both colour and hook size), I've been making some beanies for Craig. Nothing new, nothing to see.

  2. You are beginning to convince me that I might need to take up crochet - your pieces are just wonderful!
As an aside - are you talking about the "Veronica Mars" television? That's funny - I worked on that show from beginning to end as the wardrobe seamstress. If that's not what you're referring to - nevermind!
