Dusting things off.

images from assorted photographers via the Red Sydney Project

As I'm moving forward into new things, I've been thinking quite a bit about the past. Do you remember the Red Sydney Project? Two years ago today, I woke up to red sky. After a few clicks of my camera, a project was born.

2 years, 1800+ photos and a word of mouth campaign that swept through the internet, I'm happy to look back and call it a success. Though the images from that morning still sear in my mind, I'm glad I started a small movement and a flickr group to capture our thoughts and photos. Life is about shared experience and I want to thank the 500+ members who contributed their photos and experiences from that day.

  1. It was quite a fright to wake up to that red sky. I remember my kids being quite freaked out. I ended up getting quite sick from it. Sometimes the internet is a pain and you wish you could just get away from it but at other times its a real comfort to know we aren't alone :)
    Beautiful photographs!

  2. Awesome! Cool project and congrats on your success with it. It must have been soooooo surreal! oh my gosh. The teal door frame and orange sky is my favourite. Good luck pursuing all your other fancy ideas, eh?
