little and big

I'm working at either end of the size spectrum today. This morning, I pieced together the blocks I received from the pint-size quilting bee. These tiny little coloured squares are just 2" finished each. That makes this just 6.5" x 10.5" big.  Perfectly cute.

At the other end of the scale, I'm making slow progress on my pickle of geese. I'd like to pretend that I love making these arcs or that I love the quilt, but it's starting to feel like a chore. Initially I thought it might be four large sections, but frankly it's already feeling enormous to me. I'm also not sure if I'm ready to invest that much in background fabric and batting since I'm not over the moon in love with the project. For now, I'll just keep making a few arcs each week and see how it goes.

I'm trying out my cell phone for photos while the Canon is in for service. Clearly my phone photography skills need a little work.

Do you have any ideas for background fabric or patchwork for my pickle of geese? Or any suggestions for what to put in the squares where all the geese meet? I haven't thought that far ahead yet and would love some inspiration!

  1. I have no suggestions Amy, but I would keep working on it - I think it will be stunning!

  2. I think the geese would look really nice set against a dark colour, maybe a grey or dark teal? I would have to say you have a better eye for colour than me though so I'm not sure why I'm giving advice :)

  3. Do you think it is a chore because of the technique? (Please say, "YES!")

  4. I love your mini mini, it's gorgeous! What about a solid for the background but an unexpected one. A dark pink like Kona cerise. Or maybe chartreuse, orange or aqua? Sorry not much help after all!

  5. Oh wow, love those teeny, tiny blocks! I might go for a white backing to let the colours pop, not sure how the beigey coloured arc background would look with grey. I'm sure it'll hit you soon!
