Let it be known from this day forward that I have overcome my challenges with piecing commitment issues! 26 completed blocks. Not bad for over the course of a couple of days.
The hexagon letter design concept comes from Chuck Nohara. She is a top Japanese quilting artist. Links for buying the book are in my flickr stream.
The color palette for this one started out in just teal and tangerine tango, but I thought it needed red. I asked Craig. He said "yes, red and all the other colors." He was insistent. In the end I skipped red and avoided primary shades in favour of a skewed palette. I think it works for it's brashness, but it might be a bit overwhelming to sleep with.
My self-imposed deadline only took me as far as letter creation. I'm giving myself a drawn out timeline for assembly and quilting. These were so much fun to make that I could see myself doing them again in softer more subdued tones.
