August.

August has had some real highs and lows. It's only the second day of the month and I'm already thoroughly exhausted. Yesterday involved a bakery who might have their dry mix wrong. One bite of bread and I was frothing at the mouth like a rabid dog. Then there was the stuck elevator where I was too short to talk into the emergency call box. And, of course, the car service bill which was three times what was expected.

It wasn't all bad though! I had a date. I saw a movie. I was a prize winner from Threadbias on Talkin' Tuesday Twitter chat.  Oh and then there's this announcement!

A few weeks ago, I went to the Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild. It was great. I had a lot of fun and have lots of pictures to post from it. The only downside is that the group meets about 1 1/2-2 hours from my home. If you live in that area, I'd suggest popping by for a visit.

We needed a group closer to home. I lightly volleyed the idea in the direction of someone that I knew was capable of organizing great crafty meetups. She took the ball and ran with it...  Sheridan and I are excited to launch local chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild to serve Sydney's west. In truth, she's doing most of the heavy lifting like contacting venues and applying for non-profit status. I've been pitching in when I can by visiting venues, working on logos and doing some of the dozens of small tasks that go along with starting a new group. Why not pop over and see what the Greater Western Sydney Modern Quilt Guild is all about?

We're just one confirmation email away from announcing our first Monday Meetup date which will be in just a few weeks time. If you have questions or want to know more visit the GWSMQG blog, join the Facebook group to offer ideas and meet other members, and subscribe to the Twitter feed for the latest updates.

My mouth stopped fizzing, btw. I also got out of the elevator with a move worthy of an Olympic medal. I had a good date. I enjoyed the movie. I was hoping the second day of August might be a bit calmer; a half hour call to the Australian tax office probably wasn't a good way to start. Let's see where it goes from here...

  1. Oh, you poor thing! Some good, a lot bad! I hope things start getting better for you. I live in South Florida and we have our own Modern Quilt Guild right in my town, so good for you for getting one closer to your neck of the woods, too :)
