brown owl wrapup

I'm home from Brown Owls Sydney and what a great day I had! I met Cass, Bec, Jess and Linda. To kick off the day, Bec and Cass both gave us great welcome gifts. Bec made these awesome bookmarks and Cass put together little notebooks for everyone with different fabrics. I went with Aunty Cookie. Too cute! I felt like a total loser for not bringing anything for general sharing. I'll make up for it next time. I promise.

Then we all worked on our projects. Here's Cass: [in a bad lighting because she's directly in front of the window, I should made her switch chairs!]

And Jess:

And Bec:

Linda is a little camera shy. Aftering gabbing for a bit and sewing for a bit, we did our lucky dip exchange. I was a major winner with my prize. Cass went all out and I was completely overwhelmed with how much I received. It all came in the awesome brown and green tote. Cute itself, but even cuter because it's reversible to little fish fabic, which I'm pretty sure is Heather Ross. Inside the tote I found another tote and a wheat bag for aches & pains. If that's not enough, there was a great moleskin notebook for recipes, a sweet little matroyska stuffie and a scrabble tile pendant that's so great. I can't wait to wear it around. I was very lucky. Be sure to visit Cass's blog and shops at http://www.snailblazer.blogspot.com/

Everyone got some great lucky dips! I forgot to take a photo of what I put in the dip. My puzzle ball and some fabric buttons made their way to Bec.

Two hours went so so fast. We gabbed more than we sewed and all picked up great tips about shopping in Sydney and creative things all around. I had a great time and I do hope we meet again soon. (If we need a gathering place, I'd be happy to host at my apartment but there aren't a lot of work tables - plenty of room though!)

To end my day, I raided the Material Obsession store. They were kind enough to let us use their back room to meet and their kitchen. If you haven't been there, it's a real treat. First, they have so many wonderful quilts hanging around. They are absolutely amazing. I've been to many fabric stores and have seen quite a few quilts, but everything pales next to these. It's worth a trip to see them. then on top of that, they have so many wonderful fabrics. I picked up some brights for making softies and blocks.
