I have [at least] three fabrics in my stash that paralyze me. You know the horrible feeling that once you use them, they are gone. You're so terrified to use them in any project that you hoard them away in a corner and actually have to tear the room apart to find them. The better you hide them, the less likely you are to waste them. It's a horrible feeling.

The first is seemingly dull. It's a piece of dark espresso. Very dark, but not black. I love this colour, but it's near impossible to find. You can get chocolate, latte, coffee and caramel brown without a problem but I can never find espresso. I love it heaps and want it in cotton, poplin, voile and so much more for skirts, pillows, toys and gifts.

The next piece you may recognize from my very early sewing days. One of the very first things I made was a wallet from this robot fabric. That was blog post number 4. I have another 1/2 yd asking me when it can be used, but I'm not ready for that sacrifice. I realize it's a bit of a novelty fabric, but it's funky and cool and who doesn't love robots?

Speaking of novelty fabrics, I couldn't go by these little guys who were hanging out at Patchwork on Central Park when I was in Melbourne. You know I love dachshunds, and desparately wanted [still do] Happy Street fabric. Sadly, I got into the sewing game much too late for this wonder. This little blogger who shares my birthday got some though. What a lucky girl! I settled for Happy Washing on linen which is almost as good.
And now I'm off to hide them away again until that perfect project comes along!
Oh those sausage dogs are super cute! You really are all about dachshunds, aren't you?! I say CUT CUT CUT! MAKE MAKE MAKE! ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY! But that's just me... I'm a a bad influence.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all three but I think the robots are my fave...so cute!
ReplyDeleteI've got a 1/2 yard of that robot fabric too....and I think I might just have it forever! I can totally understand your love of it :)
