a collector?

How many of something do you need to be a collector?

We took the backroads bus home today from the junction. We went whirling by fancy houses in Bellevue Hill and I spied something out the window... a garage sale! Not just a garage sale! More vintage canisters. Must have vintage canisters.  Like a mad woman, I screamed to my husband that I had to get off the bus. If you didn't know me, you might think I was going through a fit of psychosis. Paranoid delusions. Fits and outbreaks. Must get off the bus!

They are from Capri, an Australian plastic company. They were ready to move on. They needed me. I've brought them home. They'll live in the craft room holding floss and spools instead of flour and sugar. Oh my!

  1. Nice score, the garage sale gods were smiling on you today.

Do they match the other ones you found?

  2. They don't match, but they look good together. This set it taller and boxier than the first. I've found a replacement for my rice canister from the old set on ebay though, so I've put in a bid. I'm still looking for Sugar from the first set.

  4. I would have done the same type of exodus from the bus!

  5. These are so unbelievably fabulous! I would have done the exact some thing. And so fun to store your sewing stuff in them! Eeek! Must keep an eye out for some vintage canisters myself (used to have several, but many things did not make the massive purge pre-moving to California!).

  6. whoaa, clever girl, these are FAB! so lucky. I was whirling by a garage sale on my way to work this morning and spied two possibly great vintage quilts...and had to keep going! seriously, I think maybe I should leave for work 20 minutes early on Fridays to allow for emergency garage sale-ing? (as opposed to my usual 5 minutes late)

  8. I'm not saying that I'm going to steal them, but if they should suddenly go missing, please don't look for them in Canada (where I'm not saying that I will have hidden them....)

  9. I just saw these on flickr! What a great find, you must have good eyes spotting them from the bus. They're in fabulous condition, perfect for storing yarn and other bits and pieces. Enjoy! :-)

  11. I love them so much. I can really imagine them sitting in a 1950s American Housewife's kitchen. Gorgeous.

Well spotted, great catch and clever use for them!!

I've awarded you a kreative blogger award over on my blog tonight, hope you can play along. I could help you out with one of seven things on your seven things about me list... I collect canisters. Cool canisters!
