Adventure.

I'm not really sure if I was first drawn to the colours of this yarn or the name. Sitting in a sea of Japanese labels was this distinctly English brown paper wrapper calling to me. There's no doubt that I love a good adventure.

This week, I'm venturing into knitting. If you live in Sydney, we're knitting in the pub on Wednesday night with the Brown Owls. Remember this year, joining brown owls free. There are no membership fees. No obligations. Just some girls (and sometimes a guy or two!), some yarn and in this case some beer. (*beer is not free, sadly) My grandmother taught me to knit when I was little. She taught me to purl too. I'm not sure if any of it will come back to me. I scooped up two sets of metal needles at Vinnies for $.50 which may or may not prove useful, so come along and I'll lend you a set. Come have an adventure with us!

Speaking of adventure... Yes, it's true that I'm headed back to Japan. Yes, it's true that I'm headed back in 9 (NINE!) days. It was a bit of a whirlwind concept. I really did see some otters on Yahoo and mention to Craig that I'd like to see them. Kismet and timing perhaps let me to a package hotel/flight deal that I couldn't resist. I'll be headed back to see what gems I can find in another part of Japan. Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and possible Hiroshima this time. This time, it will be a lot more about touristy outings and a lot less about meeting distributors. Adventure! Mr Badskirt offered to send packages and fill orders during that time, but I'm skeptical and working that out.

Have you had any good adventures lately?

I'm on the hunt for a good crochet pattern or idea for the yarn above. It's the same one used in many of my 200 crochet blocks. I'd prefer something in the round. Any ideas? I've got 12 skeins in white, flat red, sour green, natural and deep marine

  8. Bah. All your travelling is making me feel all scroogey. :p

Have a great time, and tell us what Hiroshima felt like. I just finished the final episode of The Pacific tonight, and have had Hiroshima on the mind thanks to that series. All I can think of is the energy there must be very draining and strong.
