With markets potentially looming, I needed a few samples to go along with the new Oliver+S patterns in the shop. Here's my first baby dress made from an Oliver+S pattern made from the Ice Cream Social Dress. I randomly chose 18m-24m as my size. The Ice Cream Dress comes in two size groups, 6m-4 and 5-12. I might try this again in an upsized 12 because I think I could squeeze into it!
Made with the Early Bird range by Cosmo Cricket for Andover Fabrics.
With the wide 1/2" seam allowances already included in the pattern, this one sews up quick and easy. No zips or awkward buttons holes. Just one little button loop.
Would anyone be interested in doing any sew-a-longs with the Oliver+S patterns?
Hi Amy,
ReplyDeleteLove your version, I'm half way through one of my own in the the 6yrs size. I agree, super easy pattern with interesting details like the V yoke and pockets. I would mind trying the blouse option as well, that looks cute and quick.
Let me know if you get the sew-along off the ground. It might just be the kick I need to start some of the other patterns I've been stockpiling.
This pattern just arrived at the shop where I work and I am so tempted to make it for a sample, even though it took my 5 months to finally finish the rain jacket made in laminated cotton. But making this looks SOOOO much easier than that! And now you are really tempting me. ;)
ReplyDeleteAmy, I made this is about 3 hours. I have very very little pattern experience which slowed me down. If you've managed something tricky like the raincoat, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to whip this right up!
ReplyDeleteI just bought the pattern for this dress on Thursday and am looking forwad to making one! I love the idea of a sew along.
ReplyDeleteoh i somehow didnt twig these were patterns for kidlet clothes - seeing the sample is making more sense to my preggy brain.
ReplyDeleteIs it gather much at the top near the yoke or does it just look like that in the pic?
I think i might need to try one of these for the impending arrival of lil Miss...
I'd absolutely love a sew-a-long, have just finished the birthday party dress- a trial version for my baby's birthday. Love the patterns so any excuse to do some more!
ReplyDeleteYep - count me in.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your version x
I could give it a go! I've got a couple of their patterns that I love - great detail, and this dress is on my one-day list
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested in a sew along but I need to get the pattern first. I love that the sizing goes up to a 12 but I'd probably have to get both although maybe I could down-size the 5 to fit Lucy. Might have to add that to my order!
ReplyDeleteThat's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous combination of fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI'm about to start sewing some of the Oliver+S sandbox pants for my kids so if there were a sew along I could sew along!! Otherwise I'll be sewing alone.
You have tempted me with the Icecream Dress though - might have to add that to my wishlist.
I'd love to do a sew-a-long! I've made a few of the Oliver + S patterns, but haven't gotten around to the jumprope dress yet. I'd love to have some incentive to get that one done! (besides the incredible cuteness, of course)
