I have long been a fan of Sew, Mama, Sew's Handmade Holiday series. When I wanted to find quick, easy projects; they were my first port of call. Beth, Kristin and the curating teams always pick clever and inspiring projects for the list.
As soon as I spied CraftyStaci's felt camera ornaments in this year's Gift for Tech Lovers post, I knew I had to make them. Being without a printer, I had to wing the pattern a bit. I pared back on details to suit my somewhat minimalist style. I made one, then had to make two more because they were fun, quick and an easy hand-sew project. If I hadn't of run out of flecked felt, I could have easily made more. I'm not sure how big the original pattern works up, but my cameras are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" which feels just right for ornaments to me.
I moved the camera strap to a simple side strap. The small change is a perfect setup for bus pass or gift card holders for the holidays. Leave one edge unstitched and pop the cards inside. I'd suggest cutting your felt cameras at 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" using a 1/8" outer seam allowance for card holders.
I'm on the hunt for more quick felt and fabric projects. I really like patterns where you make 'things' like the pencil-shaped pencil cases or a camera-shaped card holder. Have you seen any clever projects lately? I'd love your suggestions!
And that red stripe cup that seems to perfectly match my ornaments in the first photo? Total coincidence. My morning coffee in my $2 Woolworth's mug was sitting next to the ornaments. Serendipity, I guess.
Have you seen these (not "things" but I like them):

I love what you did with these, and using them as a gift card holder is genius! Thanks for sharing Amy!
