april owls

I have to say that I really love Brown Owls. I love making and learning and sharing and nice people. We had the perfect mix last night in Sydney!

Corrie led the group in granny squares. Everyone came with hook in hand to give it a try. Everyone succeeded to - except me, I failed. This doesn't surprise me as my mother failed at teaching me to crochet for years.

The other girls made great stuff though. What started as a little ring grew with a bit of serious work. Maybe a little too serious...

Oh, that's better! Smiles are what owls were all about last night.

It wasn't a complete failure for me. I decided to keep at it on the bus. I picked up a new book yesterday with dreams of being a crochet rockstar, Amigurumi! by Elisabeth Doherty. Armed with a new book and a dream, I kept at it on the train. I managed to eek out two magic rings with a bit of single crochet. Pretty? No, but it's a start.

Thanks to all of the gals for a wonderful night! Can't wait to see you next month.

  2. I love Brown Owls too. The friendship, sharing and good conversation are what totally float my boat. You are going great with your crochet! Keep at it and you'll have a square (or a bear!) in no time!

  3. I had such a wonderful time last night- I'm excited about next month already! In the meantime, I am determined to make a circle that turns into a square and not a flower or a snowflake... :)

  5. Wow, just look at those magic rings... you're on your way! Maybe I should try that method too. I'm afraid the granny squares just didn't do it for me.
