forgotten order, but oh so right.

I set out to buy some grey fabric the other day. I'm after coal or charcoal. I can't decide which. I scoured a few shops and got distracted by flickr. Someone mentioned a half price sale on a plaid that's tops. That was enough for me. The decision was made, I'd be getting some grey fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop and a bit of plaid while I was at it.

After that decision, I don't remember much more about ordering that day other than a mad jiggle to get the correct total so it would fit in an international flat rate envelope. I added and dropped items like mad. In a fit of sheer laziness, I ordered a white jelly roll so I wouldn't have to cut my own sashing. An excellent plan, if I had something to sash.

A knock on the door today. A nice man with a parcel in hand. Did I order something? I couldn't remember. I opened it up and vaguely remembered the Order Now button. There was nary a grey in sight. In all that shuffling, it was cast aside for ten meters of ribbon.

I don't sew with ribbon.

There were Airstream campers and dachshunds. My retirement plan was right there in front of me a 7/8" strip. Head in the clouds, I went shopping with dreams of retirement. An excellent plan... if I only had a job to retire from.

  1. LOL, I have been there done that :) I have to say though that the sausage dog print ribbon is too too cute.

  2. Those dachshies are adorable, and I've been eyeing off that plaid for my son, his fave colour is orange. I wonder if there's any left.
Shame you forgot about the grey. I've seen quite a few bloggers around the place absolutely raving about the Kona Coal, I guess it depends how dark a grey you're looking for.
BTW, Kona is only $4.19 a yard at the Fabricshack.com

  8. A white jelly roll sounds like a very clever idea (well, if you need to sash something that is...). The dachshunds are very cute, I am sure you will come up with a use for them someday.
