Plane Craft
Along with finishing my book, I whipped up a few more potholders while I was on the plane. Again, I used Maryse's Modern Vintage Potholders pattern. I like it because it's free and works well with light ply mercerized cotton. It's quick, easy and functional.
These potholders are simply two wheel layers stitched together. I made up the sides on the plane, then wove in the ends and joined them when I got home. I've been experimenting with cotton brands and haven't quite figured out how to dull the sheen for photos. Though the red looks blown out, it's a very dreamy texture from Lana Gatto. The cheap as chips Sullivan yarn is a dredge to work with but photographs ace.
As with most of my crochet projects, you can visit Ravelry to learn more about the yarns I used.
Must make myself a couple of these, yours are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the one in the blue/greens. Pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow on earth did you get on a plane with a crochet hook?? Did you pass a quiet $50 to the air hostess?????
ReplyDeleteDo your fingers ever slip through the gaps in the stitches using those, or is it just me who has all the shit luck? :p AWESOME colors, though. Right up my alley. :D
