lack lustre photos

Every so often I make something that looks tops in real life, but ends up strangely challenging to photograph. Bunting has always been tough for me. I tried our clothesline. But as renters, our backyard is less than picturesque and we have daggy shell coloured concreate walls throughout the house. Any tips?

  1. perhaps a trip to a local park and string it between some trees or swings?
    Nice weather permitting :)

  2. Wrap it around something that approximates a Christmas tree shape, or lay it on the table and fold it back and forth, then shoot just the middle (that description maybe didn't make sense).

  3. Not sure whether you have any of these items available to you but.....
across the front of a cot
    in front of a fireplace
along an old wooden fence or old wooden gate????

Hopefully something there helps or jogs your memory for somewhere else.

  4. Oh, I have images of this stuff hanging off monkey bars or on a gazebo in a park! I also love the idea of it photographed along a white picket fence. Unfortunately none of these could be done easily at home. Good luck - I can imagine how great they must look!

  8. How about strategically draped across something, like the back of a chair, your headboard etc?

  9. yo Amy. you have a beach full of sand down the road from you...maybe drape it across the sand or use something down there like the metal railings or the graffiti wall !!
