Patchwork Lesson, Kumiko Fujita, 2007.

I've said many times that I don't buy many craft books because they limit creativity. There are exceptions to every rule. Enter Patchwork Lesson by Kumiko Fujita

I saw this in Japan, but the book was badly damaged. I tried 5 more bookstores and craft shops in the Kansai region with no luck. I then tried my local Japanese bookstore (Kinokuniya)and learned it was out of print. I finally found a copy from an ebay vendor in Japan. I hope you find one too!

I love the way fabric with typography is scattered through the book on rooftops and chimneys. Single letters on hexagons. Words on potholders. If you're looking for something different in a craft book. Something visual and inspiring. Look for this one.

Patchwork Lesson because you never know when you'll need a telephone or dinosaur made out of hexagons.

ISBN:978-4-529-04345-8 (C5077 1600Yen)

  2. OOhh, that looks like an excellent craft book. Congratulations on landing yourself a copy, nothing is more rewarding when you've tried so hard to get your hands on something.

I just posted a great little tokyo guide recommendation over on my blog and thought of you : )
