Tango

Tango by badskirt - amy

Despite all of the enthusiasm I had mustered for the Pantone Colour of the Year announcement, I was uncharacteristically quiet when Tangerine Tango was revealed. It's not that I disliked the colour, I just felt it was a bit too tomato-y for colour of the year. It's fine. Adequate might be a better word. It just wasn't stirring. I'd really hoped for a green. Why haven't we had a green?

Erin and Ali announced a Tangerine Tango Quilt Challenge today, so I decided to see what, if any fabrics I had that qualified. I stretched it a bit into the more orange-y side of the colour and this is all that I came up with. I'm looking forward to see the results of this challenge as it's an atypical colour in patchwork which should lead to some creative and unusual quilts.

  1. I'm not sure I have any at all to be honest - I had a hard job finding enough decent orange to use in a swap make recently for someone wanting aqua and orange - my local fabric shop is rather lacking in that area...

It was interesting to see what the colours have been since 2000 for the colour of the year though, mostly warm, several quite similar, and the cool ones have always been blues, again with distinct similarities

  2. I joined the challenge group but I have nothing to suit in my stash. I was in two of my local quilt shops the day after the colour was announced and I could not find anything in stock there either. It will be a tough one, but I would like to try and put something together.

  3. i have that dot fabric in your photo and i could go to Joanns and pick up some of the DS Quilts fabric in that color (if it wasn't so scratchy). i agree about the lack of green in that list. considering the "green energy" trend of the last decade, it is interesting that the Pantone people have ignored the color entirely. the green part of my stash takes up the most room.
