the lurch.

I left you in a bit of a lurch didn't I? How well did my quilt wash?!

I was swooped away on a spontaneous vacation with Craig and never got the chance to blog. I've been galavanting around southern New South Wales with some of Australia's finest.  ...and by that I mean a swarm of flying ants, a super-sized winged cockroach, a red belly snake, a lizard, some crabs and an eerily toxic looking spider that was dancing around Craig's neck. It's been an amazing holiday weekend.

While I've been gone, wheels kept turning. One of my blocks popped up in the Sew, Mama, Sew's current trends post. You can pop over and see the details for all of the other great projects there. We were part of the sewing with text segment.

And speaking of sewing with text prints... how about this lovely little stack?

I pulled it out for an upcoming quilt-along that which kicks off in February. Believe me when I say that it's going to be good...

Those random historical blocks are still in the works too. If you like the scrappy x and + block tutorial, then you might also like the new Nancy Cabot group on flickr. I'll be making more blocks to contribute to the group, but it's an excellent resource for learning about one of America's most prolific early quilt block authors.

So the wheels keep on cranking here even when I'm fighting off centipedes or feisty but lovable southern coast dogs.  Have you been busy?!  The last four days feel a bit like four weeks to me... relaxing and wonderful.  Scary and exciting.  Thank you, Jeanette, for pointing Craig and I on a great Aussie adventure.

ps: the quilt washed beautifully!

  4. Holy cow, where did you get all those fabulous text fabrics? Collected slowly over time? or in one fell swoop from some place I clearly do not yet know about??? Please do tell!

  5. These were collected over quite some time. I'm fortunate to have visited Japan, so many of them came from there. I also keep my eyes open online and at local textile shops. I'm sure where the quiltalong kicks off there will be some great buying tips.
