Sew Out Loud

As a collector (hoarder?) of text fabrics,  I jumped at the opportunity to join Kirie and Julianna for their new quiltalong called Sew Out Loud.  For Sew Out Loud, eleven bloggers will  be posting 12" blocks designed around sewing and text including clear instructions and sewing hints. We've come up with 11 different cheeky, fun, sweet and poignant designs using pieced text, wordy fabric and sewing themes. Trust me about this quilt-along, it's gonna be a ripper...

Kirie and Julianna have been working quite hard on this and have lined up all sorts of prizes - fabric from Fat Quarter Shop, Duni's StudioSew Fresh Fabrics, Stoffsalon and even a copy of Electric Quilt 7! It'd be great to win a copy of EQ7, wouldn't it?  I've always wanted to try it out and never had the chance.

The quiltalong will bounce through some of my favourite blogs and there is a Sew Out Loud flickr group to share your projects, get advice, offer tips, give leads on great fabrics and watch everyone else's work unfold.

February 13th - Julianna @ Sewing Under Rainbow - Block 1
February 20th - Joanna @ Shape Moth - Block 2
February 27th - Muriƫl @ Doucepoints - Block 3
March 5th - Susanne @ Quilt it out - Block 4
March 12nd - Charise @ Charise Creates - Block 5
March 19th - Kerry @ Very Kerry Berry - Block 6
March 26th - Amy @ Badskirt - Block 7
April 2nd - Amy @ During Quiet Time - Block 8
April 9th - Leila @ Where the Orchids Grow - Block 9
April 16th - Melinda @ Quirky Granola Girl - Block 10
April 23rd - Krista @ Lola Blue Ocean - Block 11
April 23rd - April 30th - submissions for the contest for 12th block.

A celebrity judge will be helping out with the end block contest. I don't get starstruck; but when I heard who the judge is going to be, I squealed. Loudly.  Details are posted on Kirie's blog along with your chance to win fabric and quilting software.

I feel lucky to have been asked to join in. I've already been pulling and pairing fabrics and getting ready. I hope you come along for the ride. So pop on over to flickr or ask me about it on Twitter at #sewoutloud.

  1. I have NO suitable fabrics but I love the look of this QAL. What to do? I know I won't be able to keep up with the schedule, but I think I will have to hunt up some fabric and sew in my own time. Pity I can't ninja one of the stacks you have been putting together, they are beautiful!
