The stack of NICU gowns for Miracle Babies Foundation keeps growing. My personal goal of 100 by the end of July is within reach. I'm not sure if I blogged about my goal, but I'm doing it. I'm helping add sunshine to 100 families. And it's really not that hard at all... My crafty friends are awesome and supportive, of course. So many of them generously donated fabric for the cause. Sheridan, Belinda, Leah, Jenna and Saffron among them. Together we're making them some of the best dressed kids in Australia.
I've enlisted the help of a few Brown Owls tonight to help sew on some snaps. If you aren't doing anything tonight June 21st, stop by The Rose in Chippendale. Meet some crafty Brown Owls and help out! Details at the Sydney Brown Owls Facebook group.
Those are adorable and such a fun idea for premies. I spent my first month in an incubator and I didn't get anything that cute. If I could do it over I'd definitely want some of your dresses, and the fox one in particular!
ReplyDeleteAmy I've got a snap press machine if you want to use that to put the snaps on.
ReplyDeleteAmy! This is a beautiful thing! I wish I had something so sweet for my daughter when she was born. We knew that her condition was fatal, and we didn't know how much time we would have with her. I didn't know her sex, so I didn't have anything so sweet for her and regret it! Those are absolutely adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat pattern are you using?
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is available on the Miracle Babies website. I've included links and details in this post: http://badskirt.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/for-nicu.html
DeleteHi Amy, What a wonderful things you are doing. I had 3 of my children in NCUI 2 with a very positive outcome (they are now 18). They were given little hand knitted beanies, it was the best it some how makes them feel like yours and real babies. It will make so much difference to the parents and families of these special little deliveries.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was a great honour to meet you on Saturday at the craft show! Thank you for being so welcoming with a complete stranger! All the best Anne
Wonderful thought and dedication to make these. My daughter was a 27weeker (now 6) and she weigh 861grams. Little dresses with personality are just what the Mums and Dads need for their babies. I'm currently 31weeks pregnant and may have another premmie very soon. Things like this make all the difference when your in the NICU and you should be extreamly proud of yourself.
