The templates combined with my spinning cutting mat made quick work of cutting out the pieces for my first little play with the periwinkle star template set that I bought yesterday.
I can't decide between spacing things out as shown with kites or in the looser periwinkle star layout. I do think a cushion is a good entry project.
I've even managed to hand sew a few of the stars to make sure I enjoyed the process.
This is going to be so beautiful….!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, pretty... Are these the right size to work with charm squares?
ReplyDeleteoh yes. These pieces are quite small. If you look at the pictures in the previous post, the octagon fits right into a charm pack. Assembled, the kites finish at 2" in the long direction, but they cut much longer than that. You could get 3 (maybe 4) kite pieces from a charms square
DeleteSuper. I'd been wanting to find something that would work well with my alarming accumulation of charm packs... Thanks!
DeleteDelightful and Small. Mmm.. keep working on this!
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous! They look so delicate!
ReplyDeleteWow! Gorgeous.
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty shape to work with.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of the game Jacks especially with the fabrics... very 60's. I like the random layout you have now too, playful.
ReplyDeleteHello! It's been quite a while since your initial posting...How are you doing on your periwinkle quilt? Periwinkles close together or traditional?
ReplyDeleteI was gifted yesterday with a large pile of the periwinkles -- tiny & hand pieced.
How do I finish them into blocks? I like the updated version of using QST of paper to piece the blocks, but these are beyond that stage.
Any thoughts would be extremely welcome. Thank you! pj stitches! in sw MO where heat index is approaching 100 degrees... pj
