Collage by Carrie Bloomston, SUCH Designs for Windham Fabric

I have a lot of photo show and tell this week including three new Windham fabric ranges to show you, a trip to the Airstream store, a holiday in Batemans Bay and a Zoo. I knew I had to start with this surprise arrival of lovelies from Windham Fabrics - Collage by Carrie Bloomston. This is the fabric collection that I've been waiting for, but didn't know that I needed. Colors that sing to me - teals, greys, taupes and yellows. The mottled, grungy prints that have just the right balance of color and light. Mugs, birds and newspaper clipped trees...

Carrie Bloomston has done an amazing job of creating a beautiful mixed-media inspired collection. Most people know they either like something or they don't. Often, it's had to pinpoint why. Unless you work in surface design you probably haven't spent much time thinking about the weight of fonts; the balance of pigment to background; and subtly of noise and grunge that carefully compliments, but does not overpower. Carrie gets it all right. There's nary a misstep in this 20 print collection.

I had to start my show and tell with this collection because I'm ready to dive in and use it on my steam punk quilt. I'm already six blocks into the project, but tempted to start a second using only Carrie's collection. It's good. These prints are talking to me. They are begging to be used.

Collage is available from Windham Fabrics and will be on shelves in early July. Put a buzz in your shop owner's ears to make sure they stock up at quilt market.
