learning curves.

IMG_3065.jpg

I've been wanting to make a liner for my bicycle basket for quite some time. I picked up some very stiff laminated canvas at my nearest fabric shop, Remnant Warehouse earlier in the year. It's very stiff. I thought I out to see how it sews up before committing to a more complex shape. To keep things simple, I started with a basic basket. I'm not quite ready for the real-deal.  I think the trick is going to be large seam allowances, double-sided pressible seam-a-steam and a willingness to accept imperfections.

  1. Oooh cool! I've been wanting to make myself something like this but have been worried about how to attach it to the basket so it won't be super easy to walk off with.

  4. Nice! I don't see any imperfections. Nice fabrics, too!

  5. If you are sewing on the laminate, use a teflon foot! It makes it a breeze. But this is great and I know the finished liner will be fabulous.

  6. Do you have a serger? You can tame a seam when you trim as you go in a manner that is impossible with a standard machine.
