new tools for me

These are Dual-Action Spring Snips. If you don't already own a pair of these, you need them.

They are quick and easy to use, so you can accidentally cut the wrong thing twice as fast!! Lots of very nice gals in the fabric giveaway suggested them to relieve hand cramps when clipping and notching, and I'm happy to report that these girls were on the money. Thanks ladies! They'll set you back $19.95 AUD at Spotlight which seems hefty but they come with a free lanyard so you can wear them around your neck. I plan to sleep with mine.

You can actually get these a tad cheaper, but I'm a sucker for packaging. I sprung for the ones labelled professional. Did I mention the free lanyard? I interpreted professional to mean "for people who pretend to make a living sewing stuff, but really barely break even because they buy too much." I'm seriously considering telling people that my current role is a textile purchaser.

While I was out shopping, I sprung for a new set of doll maker needles. As you can see they come in three sizes - small, medium, and "oh my god I've just stabbed this thing an inch into my thigh". But well, that was yesterday and as Craig pointed out my tetanus shot is current.

I assumed my thigh may have dulled the tip a little and a new set was in order. I actually over spent at the store today. If you were at the Lincraft Sydney CBD going-out-of-business sale, I was the crazy lady with enough polyfill to stuff a life-size antelope. I also didn't want to share with you because I needed it. Sorry about that. Which reminds me, I may be the only gal in Sydney who didn't know the entire store is 33% off.

Ordinarily this would excite me, but because they currently have no pinking shears, snips, button tubes, denim thread, marking pens or felt, I was a little let down. They had polyfill though, so now I'm working on my antelope!
