things to do in Bondi

Aside from visiting me way in the back courtyard of the Bondi Markets on Sunday, there is plenty to see and do in Bondi this week. I thought I'd do a quick guide for the Sydney gals who may decided to pop over.
  1. Bondi Markets are on every Sunday from 10am-5pm at the Bondi Public School near the north end of the beach just off Campbell parade. Last week, the vendors included a gal who made baby singlets decorated with Kokka fabrics and Pretty in Pink Designs who do lounge sets, makeup kits and some oilcloth bags that are pretty delish. 2. Sculpture by the Sea is on for the 12th year at Bondi Beach. You could enjoy the already beautiful walk from Tamarama to Bondi while taking in artwork in a variety of media. PottyMouthMama told you all about it a few days ago, and she's a smart cookie. So I'd listen to her.

The Sydney Morning Herald also has an interactive slideshow with some of this year's pieces for those who can't make it. (Image from Sydney Morning Herald)

  3. Everyone loves to eat, and there's plenty on offer down here. If you're toting along a big family there's always cheap sausages at the market. If you're looking for something a little tastier, I'd try Myoko for sushi just off the main road or Thai Terrific for some Chicken Panang to make your mouth melt. I've salivating, just thinking about it.

  4. If you stick around after the markets, the Beach Road Hotel usually has a live band on Sunday nights. They typically have reggae and funk mixed with a little drum and bass. I've heard rumors this week's band has more of an electro-synth sound, but what do I know!! If I get all packed up from the market, I'll try to stop by and drink away my earnings.

  5. For the shopping inclined, a quick trip up to the junction yields the gorgeous fabrics of Tessuti, the practical purchases at Spotlight and tucked away on Oxford St in a tiny little room is the Bondi Sewing Centre where you can probably find that rare sewing foot that you're after for your Husqvarna. Don't blink or you'll miss her! (Image from Tessuti Bondi website)

  6. and don't forget the vintage! There's several upmarket vintage stores around the beach, along with a Vinnies. I'll honestly admit that I haven't graced these lately but you can let me know what I'm missing!

So what are you waiting for? Come on over! The 333 (prepay) and 380 buses both travel from city to Bondi Beach. You can also catch these at the Bondi Junction train depot. If you're keen to do the Tamarama to Bondi Walk, you could also catch the 361 and start in Tamarama. Find out more at the 131500 website. Also, I suggest checking store hours before the trip to avoid disappointment.

I'm hoping to go roaming Sydney in the next few weeks and post more places to go and things to do!
