honeysuckle?

Each year Pantone predicts next year's hot color. I've been eagerly awaiting the announcement. I even mentioned it on Facebook. And then the announcement came...
I was briefly quieted. Then I sighed so loudly that Mr B asked if something was wrong. I'm perplexed by this choice. Pantone describes it as, "Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing 'everyday' about it."

I dare say I'm not sure that I would want to see it daily. Do you already own a fair bit of honeysuckle? Is it a staple in your closet? Is it lurking in your stash?! Are you ready for 2011 and all it's honeysuckled goodness?

  1. when I saw honeysuckle, I thought it might be some glorious shade of mustardy yellow. And then I saw it... it's ummm just a little bit blah?!

  2. I guess I'm not 'courageous' enough for this one. I think I'll let it go past me.

  3. That would look awful with my hair. Also, what part of honeysuckle is that colour?

  4. the version i saw on Apartment Therapy was much redder. still not to my tastes, but definitely vibrant, if that was what they were going for!

  5. hmmm pink. well as far as pinks go, it's a shade that i can live with, but i doubt it'll become a staple.

  6. i don't own a single thing that color! :/

  7. I don't know about the rest of the world, but around here, honeysuckle is either yellow or coral, not pink.

That said, I like it a lot. I'm not sure I want it in my house in vast quantities, but I would wear it. Not sure about the definition though. It sounds like the definition for the breast cancer pink, which is much lighter than this.

  8. I thought all the pantone swatch of 2011 colours was a little pastel inclined for me, Honeysuckle I like the least of all of them

  9. I like the color and could wear it well - but it's not anything special. I'm with the others... isn't honeysuckle cream or yellow?

  10. Yuck! I am not a fan of pinkish red. I do not own any clothes this color or any fabric. I definitely will be skipping this as I am the only girl in my home (my husband won't let my boys wear pink) and have red hair so this is gross looking on me.

  11. For a second I thought you said honey dew and I was excited. I love that melon color.
Honeysuckle, not so much. I have 3 girls and it seems like such a juvenile color to me.

  12. blech! Pink!! I can't say I'm surprised...flipping through magazines at the hospital, all the designer spreads were HEAVY on the pink.

And to think, I was so happy to wave goodbye to 2010...hehe, I'll just consider myself vintage and stick to the 2009 and 2010 colors.

  13. I have never been a big fan of pink so i doubt this will turn my closet into an oasis of pinkness. Isn't that so 2003? Surely we can add a few more years before we start recycling the colors already?

  14. Um. Not sure about that one.

I was curious about what was the Colour of 2010 - and astonished to find it is almost the exact colour I just had the sewing room painted.

Will my sewing room always scream 2010? Do I need to repaint in Honeysuckle?

  15. Since when is honeysuckle pink? Not that I don't like pink, but if I hear the word honeysuckle I'd think yellow or white!

  16. Forgot to say - that shade of pink is pretty much exactly the same as our living room - which was pink when we bought the house back in the late 90s - does that make us trendsetters?

  17. When I saw it I thought its pink!!
hmmmm... I am not sure its 'bold spirit' is going to infuse, lift and carry me throughout 2011!!

  18. I live in the South & have lived here all my life...I've never seen a honeysuckle this color EVER. They're smoking some crack over at Pantone.

  19. I think I'm more of a "2010 Turquoise" girl.

  20. Well, it's certainly not honeysuckle! More like 'carnation' perhaps!

  21. Yeah, to me this is rather reminiscent of the pink Izods the preppies used to wear in the late 80s. Not my favorite. I have a few bits of it in my stash (MoMo's It's a Hoot has some in it), but there is NONE in my wardrobe. Nor will there be! Perhaps they can come up with something a little less...searing for next year? And I'm with Liam's Mummy--the 2010 turquoise was much more my speed!

  22. Not a fan. Its not even a good pink. I was hoping for a chartreusy acid green. Oh well, there's always next year.

  23. I'm happy to hear that pink will be popular! My fiance is a fabric designer - his first collection for Free Spirit, out this winter, has a lot of pink in it!

  24. Honeysuckle? Somebody studied their horticultural brochures and got it WRONG. Perhaps Pink Hydrangea? Now I get it. They knew it was a flower that started with H, but they couldn't remember the name and started asking their mates at work, who had obviously always lived in flats lurking high above a city with no plants on the balcony and somebody said "I know, Honeysuckle, my grandmother used to have one of those..." completely missing the naming of the flower .. that is how it happened .. I am sure. Wikipedia agrees with me. At least Lonicera ciliosa does.
