Lexi at pottymouthmama was chatting away with the folks at Operation Angel. What could we do for Japan? Could we help? Then Sarah and Lexi had a chat. Then Sarah gave me the scoop.
Small joys for Japan - softies for the child care centers. When countries are damaged by disaster or war, children often end up in care facilities while their parents sift through debris, damage and despair trying to rebuild. We can do something for those kids. We can make them smile during the scariest time of their life.
I found a dozen toys in my craft room who were left over from my market days. Some still listed in my shop, but I pulled them all down tonight for a much better cause. I've got 12 guys ready to go to Japan. They'd love some friends too. If you'd like to help out, you can bring your softies for donation to Calico&Ivy for collection.
Calico&Ivy Sydney - 10 Birchgrove Rd, Balmain
Calico&Ivy Perth - 10 Glyde St, Mosman Park
We're still sorting out all of the logistics, but we are working with humanitarian relief experts. We'd love your help.

Great Idea Amy, very very thoughtful
ReplyDeleteYou're wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. These are fantastic and I am sure any child who receives them will treasure them.
ReplyDeleteI live in Iwate in the area effected by the earthquake. I fled to Canada for fear of nuclear radiation. I am actualyl collecting toys and stuffed animals as well to bring back to Japan. Children need some comfort in the terrifying landscape they are in.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you were going after all the events in your beloved Japan. Sounds like your softies will be a perfect remedy to the horror that these kids and their families have been through.
ReplyDeleteHi, I just googled to find out if any blogland crafters were organizing softies for Japan .... and you came up! I would love to help and live in the UK can you guide me in any direction? I have sent softies to Queensland and Christchurch and would love to give to little ones in Japan.
