Today, I experimented with Penny's Peppermint pattern. I had a play with scale and the background size before finally settling into this block.
The collegiate colours compliment our couch quite well. So I've nonchalantly left this block lying about to see if I can woo Mr B into either a cushion or a throw for the couch. I feel a little devious about it.
Back to Penny's pattern. So much potential! I can see a whole bunch of asterisks together in a row. They would also be great for random quilt bee blocks like 3x6. Or you could add a few stems to make a row of flowers. Experimenting a bit with scale and placement could make for a really interesting quilt. It's a pretty ace pattern for $5. Lots of room to experiment with it and make it your own.
The fabrics are Alexander Henry Pirate grid and the unnamed Spotlight elephants. We'll see what the husband says later tonight.
I'm sure he'll say 'hey, who made this killer asterisk block?'. Cuz it's killer.
