making palettes

I still make designs at Quilt Design a Day, but found myself slipping a bit. We had a run of uninspiring reference images and I couldn't convince myself to keep up with it. As a group, we put our heads together and decided that between us, we have more than enough photographs to come up with clever palettes.

I was up first at making our new creative sparks. We each take seven days then pass the baton. I wanted to show you some of the palettes I shared this week as well as a few designs from other members in the group. It was a lot of fun digging through my old photo library looking for unexpected color combinations and photos that I thought would trigger a hint of creativity in everyone.

Santa Cruz interpreted by Jenn Rodriguez, Stacey Day and Carol Byrnes

I had a little thrill each time someone posted a design using one of my palettes. The folders were chock full of great designs this week. It's worth following the links in the captions to see them all.

I am consistently blown away by the talent in the #QDAD group. I'm also excited as I watch members progress in their work and help others as they do. Come along and join us in the designing or work on learning more about your own style by sharing constructive feedback.

What do you think about these palettes? Is there anything here that makes you want to dig in your stash and start sewing?

  1. The deer inspired palette interests me because it's not my normal colour 'thing'. But I love the middle design inspired by the pinball machine, having spent some time in pinball parlours as a teenager.
