Golden Day with Umbrella Prints

It has been a bit of a rollercoaster here at Badskirt lately. I'm still not fully healed from December which has left me a wee bit grumpy and in the dumps at times. Anyone who has experienced ongoing pain knows what that feels like both physically and emotionally.  It's kept me away from both the sewing machine and computer more than I'd like.

I have been keeping an eye on Facebook though where the annual Umbrella Prints trimming challenge was mentioned in a number of groups I frequent. This year along with a quilters's prize, maker's prize and audience prize; Umbrella Prints hid five golden tickets in their trimmings packs. The challenge has already started and runs to June. In March I joked with a friend, "I am so overcommitted at the moment, but the idea of finding a golden ticket seems so appealing!"
It wasn't until last week that I finally got a chance to place my trimmings pack order. I was on the fence debating between Peachy Keen or a Mixed Pack, but didn't have enough for both in my paypal account. I think I swapped bundles in the cart at least a dozen times.

In the end I went with the corals, oranges and pinks in Peachy Keen, and I'm so glad I did! Hidden inside was one of the golden tickets! I yelped in the elevator and scared my neighbor. They already think I'm a loon though, so it only added to their perception.

Can you believe it? I'm already a winner and haven't even decided what I'm making for the challenge. It was the perfect end cap to a week that has had ups and downs. Have you bought your Trimmings pack yet? There's still plenty of time to put an order in and sew up a storm before the challenge deadline. Who knows? You could be a winner even before you put needle to thread!

  1. I ordered a Peachey Keen packet last week too, after spending ages trying to choose. I ended up adding an Australia pack as well, the hint of black sucked me in. Congratulations on your Golden Ticket, so glad that you had a great end to your week.

  3. Yay - a golden ticket, just like Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I ordered Peachy Keen too and a flower pack. No idea what I am going to make though.
