Yesterday, I practiced a bit more and found myself with a jellyfish. This was more by chance than by choice. I worked sans pattern and counting. I wanted to work on basic stitches like single crochet and half-double crochet. Half-double? What kind of name of name is that? Seriously someone really ought to rethink what stitches are called. Since when is half-double not a single?
Craig likes the jellyfish, so I should have stopped there.

...but no. I couldn't stop. I decided to tackle the book and work on something. The logical step would been to choose a beginner pattern and make a strawberry, mouse or leaf of lettuce. Not me though. I deemed myself an intermediate because I know two stitches and started on the pig. He's going to be much bigger than I expected. I'm 13 rows into his head and realizing that it's time to move to the sewing machine.

Yes, he's blue. Blue and green are the only skeins that I have. He'll be a very special blue pig made out of something called soya yarn. Anyone know what soya is?
I think I need more skeins and a dedicated shelf in the craft room.
crochet does seem to be the crack of the craft world - highly addictive and you forget your head.
ReplyDeleteI love Cindy's comment - the "crack" of the craft world. What can one say to add to that? Perhaps only some unoriginal comment about becoming a hooker.
ReplyDeleteI think I am getting RSI from crocheting... is there a compensation claim for such an injury.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be right you really only need to know two stitches and the comment about crack is to true:)
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I have with crocheting is the inherent need to watch it so I can't watch anything else...knitting I don't have to watch.
ReplyDeleteFYI Soya = soy beans = tofu
I can't believe your way of picking up new crafts and just running with it! You're awesome! I've been doing stupid stitch samplers for aaages now...I really want to do amigurumi as well, so maybe I'll bring my stuff to Brown Owls :o)
