The content intended for this blog today has been omitted.
I've been an outspoken critic of Internet intervention and censorship for a long time. In the mid-90's, I stood up to the US Communication Decency Act. I darkened my website. I distributed blue ribbons for awareness. Then in 2008, the Australian government took a turn and again in 2010. My head now turns back to the US government again with the possibility of SOPA and PIPA. There are many eloquent articles and motion graphics out there to help explain the impact of these bills worldwide. They do a far better job than I could do.
I haven't darkened my website today, but I'm omitting all of the planned content. I took photos which won't be posted. I wrote articles that you'll never see. I quickly posted things on Flickr and then deleted them. Rather than darken a website for just one day, I want to make long term reminder of content missed. I want people and politicians to remember so that we don't have to do this again.
I really hope they hear you.
ReplyDeleteI did.
It scares me that a group of people that I don't know and can't vote against have so much control over the way I live my life.
