Tag, you're it.

Sometimes the simplest of sewing can make a girl happy. Like most crafters, I have an unhealthy interest obsession with stationery. Frankly, I have more gift cards than I'd use in lifetime. Still, I felt compelled to do a little extra this holidays with my wrapping.

Tag up!

Turns out, I'm not very traditional when it comes to gift tags. Rockets and quirky cats just scream Christmas, right? I picked up a Memory Box pocket tag die for my Sizzix, then set to work with my scrap paper collection. Each tag has a little pocket for love notes, fortunes or lucky lottery numbers.

Actually, I have no clue what you're supposed to do with the pocket. It's like that fifth pocket on your jeans leftover from the gold rush and pocket-watch days. I just liked the idea that the die required a little more interaction than turning the crank. It was more about my entertainment than practicality.

Pocket Tag.

I gave it a quick whirl today. Then decided to sew the pockets for a tiny bit of detail. Damn, I love my edgestitching foot. The die says it can cut fabric, so I might try fusing some to cardstock next week. But for now, I'm all set. As it turns out, I only need to wrap two gifts this year. I may have gone overboard. Six tags each isn't excessive, is it? Could I get away with nine?

  1. Those are great! Rockets and kittens always make me think of Christmas! ;) Maybe the pocket is so you can stick in a little card with the name of the recipient and then the tags are reusable? Pockets make things better. My wedding dress had pockets. I loved it!
