the news is big

Today I realized my keys are most likely locked in my truck. My truck is locked in a secure garage only accessible by a keyed elevator which is down the hall from my apartment door which automatically locks when we walk out it.  Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but my husband flew off to Melbourne this morning leaving me effectively trapped in our house. That's the bad news, but there's plenty of good!

The big, big news is that we're moving. My house (and sewing room) is now in boxes while we pack up the house and move to Melbourne - a creative mecca of sorts. This is good for you, all my friends that still follow along, because it means I'll have lots more time to create in the near future.

The other big news is that I've dipped my toe in the digital pattern market and popped up my first downloadable PDF pattern on Craftsy. My first pattern is for a cushion cover which also includes a free potholder pattern.  I think it's suitable for beginners or anyone who needs a quick gifts for teachers, friends or family. The Woven Slash block would also be terrific in a quilt, if you were keen to go that route.

I'll be giving some copies away later this month. If you buy one and win one later, I'll happily refund you. Don't fret about that part. Grab one now and start sewing.

And me?  I need to get back to filling boxes.  Normally packing would stink, but we're so excited about the move that it outweighs any of the boxing misery. And Craig armed me with the tape gun... stand back! I've got boxes to seal!

Has your news been big lately?  It's been a huge news week for us.

  1. Congrats on your first pattern! No small deal. And on the move to Melbourne (although a bit chilly down there...). Hope the move proves painless and you get to whip up more lovely patterns in your new craft room. Good luck packing - hmm, maybe someone locked your keys in the truck on purpose?

  2. I love this pattern so much, and I love the colors in the pillow! I know I've said it before, but I felt the need to say it again. :) I hope you enjoy Melbourne! I know you said it was a creative place, and as I was going through my RSS feed, I saw that the first finalist for the Spoonflower fabric design contest is from Melbourne. I realize sample size of one does not scientifically back up your point, but I enjoyed it anyway. :)

  6. Congratulations on your patterns Amy, that's awesome! Hope you found your keys and got all that sorted out - weird feeling, being locked inside your own house ... with no spare keys on the horizon. And happy moving to Melbourne - I LOVE Melbourne - so much to see and do, and such a fantastic supportive, crafty community too. Cat
