A tip from Ravelry suggested I go to the Kishibo-Jin Shrine in the Ikebukuro-Zoshigaya area for an open air craft market. When I woke up, the weather made it clear there would be no market. I decided to visit the shrine anyway and walk through the neighborhood. I love seeing "new-to-me" areas on each trip to Tokyo by taking random little strolls and getting lost among their houses.
One little girl was celebrating her birthday and dressed to visit the shrine known for protecting children. It made me long to return for the Shichi-Go-San festival in mid-November when all of the living dolls surrounded me.
Wow, she looks so beautiful! She must be carrying quite a bit of fabric, there are so many layers there!
ReplyDeleteI have just booked us a trip to Paris via Japan. A few days in Osaka on the way over and a few in Tokyo on the way back. I am going to have to pick your brains for things to see over the next couple of months. I have been checking in on your adventures regularly even though I haven't been commenting much.
