This weekend, I thought we could breathe a little easier. It seemed the worst of the floods were over. The first of the flood appeals had started, and I had hoped that Australia could rebuild.
Sadly, I was wrong.
Yesterday, an inland tsunami has swept through another region of Australia. With little warning, the devastation is extreme. Images reminiscent of New Orleans. More lives are lost. More homes destroyed.
As crafters and bloggers, we have often come together to help when people need us most. Queensland and northern NSW need you now. Toni of MakeItPerfect is organizing flood relief appeal auctions. Maybe you have something you can sell? Maybe there's something you can bid on? Or maybe you just want to donate directly to the flood relief fund?
Can you help?
I was very perplexed when I saw the appeal on TV the other night....why where they doing this right in the middle of it all? Shouldn't they kind of ...I don't know....wait? When there was even worse to come?
ReplyDeleteSeemed a little premature, but I supposed that they wanted to get moving while it was fresh in everybody's thoughts.
I had no idea, when it was expected to get worse, just how much worse it would get. And it's not even over yet. The rain here is like nothing I have ever seen...and it all has to go somewhere. Through towns. Through everything.
Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. I'm off to see what I can do...
Thank you for posting! I've been meaning to ask you what charity would be the best to donate to but my mind has escaped me lately. I just went and donated!
ReplyDeletemy condolences goes to everyone who have lost their loved ones during the floods. It is our payback time to the nation and its people that we help those have been devastated by the floods.
ReplyDeletepeople should now come in front to give back to the country which has given us so much when we needed. Its now the time to let people know that what you have for your country.
